No Jamaican tour will be completed without visiting Montego Bay. When I was in Kingston in connection with my official work I have decided to visit this city in a weekend. The city has earned a name as a hot destination for tourism and hence many airlines like Hawaiian Airlines and Air Jamaica are operating flights to Montego Bay. Though there are many not so known airlines are operating in this region that are offering cheap flight tickets, it was difficult to get a ticket. Still I could not cancel my plan to visit the city as I was so obsessed with it. I decided to try my luck in one of the last minute flights and got succeeded in it.
Beaches are the main attraction here. The beach life is very active with people playing beach volley and engaged in sea bath. After the introduction of cheap flights to Montego Bay, the number of visitors coming here to enjoy the beach life increased a lot. I went to Doctor’s Cave Beach Club. This club provides all facilities for entertainment. The traditional dishes and cocktail served there were really useful for boosting one’s mood. Besides, it conducts various cultural events also to entertain the visitors. Along the beach you can see a number of private resorts. The long beach and the shallow waters provide an atmosphere for safe sea bath and swimming. That is why most of the people prefer this as their favorite location when they are in the mood of enjoying beach tourism.
Rose Hall Golf Course is another attraction of the city. It is really nice to play golf in such a calm and quite atmosphere. I went there in the early morning to play. The atmosphere was a bit humid because of a rain last night. Still I could enjoy the play.
The main source of economy of this city is tourism and one can find a good number of small shops and wayside vendors who sell various items. They all are depending on the business done by the tourists and hence most of the articles are handicrafts and souvenirs. I have seen some vendors who are selling designer wears also. The peculiar patterns of designs and the bright color combination are the specialties of those wears. I have purchased some casual wears from there.
As I mentioned earlier, my trip to this city was short one as I had to be back in Kingston on my work. Hence I did not get much time to enjoy the life over there. When I described about my experience in Montego Bay back in home my wife started demanding me that the next holiday trip should be to Montego Bay.
